Network Grants - India and other countries - Last date 4th April 2017

Funds for NGOs

Activities: Others

Why are we running a Network Round 3 call?

To contribute to the development of stronger, more inclusive movements for SRHR AmplifyChange seek proposals for Network Grants from Southern-based organisations capable of convening and supporting multiple small-to-medium sized civil society organisations – including AmplifyChange grantees – to build stronger, more inclusive and resilient movements.

After almost two years of grant-making, AmplifyChange is now providing direct support to over 250 small-to-medium sized civil society organisations* through its Opportunity and Strengthening Grants. These grants aim to fuel the growth of a new generation of organisations and advocacy leaders, including youth-led, gender-rights groups, legal and health activists thereby contributing to the creation of more resilient, broad-based movements for SRHR based in the Global South.

To nurture and coordinate national SRHR movements, we have identified a need for networks that can facilitate connections between civil society organisations, communities and decision-makers across sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia.

 Eligible Organisations

The eligibility criteria are:

The applicant organisation must be registered in sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia

Your project must be implemented in sub-Saharan Africa and/or South Asia

The applicant organisation must have a bank account

The average annual budget of the lead applicant organisation over 3 years must be at least double the total value of the grant. So, for example, if you are applying for a grant of EUR300,000 over 24 months you will need to be able to demonstrate that your annual organisational budget is EUR600,000

Your project must respond to one or more of the AmplifyChange thematic areas which are:

Removing barriers to safe abortion, including criminalisation of abortion and lack of availability of and access to comprehensive abortion care services

Gender-based violence, including sexual violence and female genital mutilation, and ending child, early and forced marriage

Access to comprehensive reproductive health services for socially and economically marginalised and vulnerable people

Sexual health of young people and girls, including through comprehensive sexuality education and ending child, early and forced marriage and menstrual hygiene management

Challenging stigma, discrimination, attitudes and laws that undermine human rights, including on grounds of gender identity or sexual orientation, particularly LGBTI (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex) individuals

AmplifyChange will consider concept notes from Southern-based civil society actors based in sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia. We recognise the broad scope of civil society actors and the wide range of organisations this refers to.

Therefore, we will support:

community groups

non-governmental organisations

indigenous groups

charitable organisations

faith based organisations

research institutes

social enterprise groups

public-private partnerships

communications

media groups

professional associations

For more information on how to define your organisation, please visit our FAQs in our 'How to Apply' section.

How to Apply

Applying for a Network Grant is a two-step process:

Firstly, organisations interested in applying for a Network Grant must complete an online Concept Note.

Applications must be submitted online via this website. The online application process is easy to use and will automatically save your application as you fill in your details. You can also revisit your application as many times as you wish prior to submitting the application.

The online system will open for concept note applications on Tuesday, 7th March. Applications must be received by 5.00pm (UTC +1) on Tuesday, 4th April.

Secondly, AmplifyChange will notify groups of the outcome of the Concept Note stage.

Groups invited to submit full applications will receive further guidance on any requirements in relation to preparation of full applications.

If you need any support when submitting your application please let us know by emailing amplifychange@manniondaniels.com.

Who will we support?

What type of organisations are we looking to support?

This funding round is primarily intended for southern-based organisations able to provide ongoing support, training and mentoring to cohorts of small-to-medium civil society organisations working at the national level in a single country, or sub-national level in large, federal countries – such as Nigeria, India, Pakistan – or across multiple countries within a region.

The ultimate outcome of these grants will be stronger SRHR campaigns in Sub Saharan Africa and South Asia.

Applications should propose an effective approach to ongoing monitoring and relationship-building with Civil Society organisations. This may include costs for creating physical connections including but not exclusively convening, mentoring or facilitating exchanges as part of establishing a stronger community of professional advocates and emerging leaders to SRHR including the development of career pathways for emerging leaders.

The average annual budget of the lead applicant organisation over 3 years must be at least double the total value of the grant. So, for example, if you are applying for a grant of EUR250,000 over 24 months you will need to be able to demonstrate that your annual organisational budget is EUR500,000.
