Respected Sir/Madam,

Greetings from the Consulate-General of Japan at Chennai!

The Government of Japan offers a financial assistance under the scheme called “the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Projects (GGP)” to development projects designed to meet the diverse basic human needs of the people in developing countries.

We are pleased to share this information with you to help guide you seeking funds for any development projects that you may like to implement.

The GGP scheme supports projects to be implemented by non-profit organizations such as NGOs and educational/medical institutes which are eligible to receive foreign funds under the law of the Government of India. The priority areas of the GGP scheme are:

• Basic Health Care
• Primary Education and Adult Literacy
• Poverty Alleviation
• Safe Drinking Water and Sanitation
• Women’s Empowerment
• Child Welfare including Support for Street Children and Elimination of Child Labor
• Support for Persons with Disabilities
• Preservation of Environment

The Consulate-General of Japan at Chennai covers three southern states, namely, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Kerala, plus Union Territory of Puducherry. If you belong to a state other than the above-mentioned, you may contact our Embassy in Delhi or other Consulates-General of Japan, which cover your area.
