ICT For Social Good Grants - India and other countries - Apply by 30 April 2017

Funds for NGOs

Activities: Others

ICT for Social Good wants to know, value and sustain those many projects, realities and innovative ideas created with a bottom-up approach. Often, these ideas are not fully recognised and they face difficulties in being involved in international development projects. However, they represent a good starting point to build a new approach to the international cooperation and local development.

The general goal of the grant is to sustain, as much as possible, local innovators in low-income countries but also to inform the development sector – too often still based on traditional intervention models – about local innovations.

The two prizes are of 12.000 euros and 10.000 euros respectively and the winners will also be invited to Italy for the final event of the programme “Innovazione per lo Sviluppo” encouraging meetings with entrepreneurial realities and Italian research centres that might be interested in sustaining and developing the winning projects.

Goals:1. Introducing innovation in international cooperation means to discover, know and value what already exist locally in terms of innovative responses to the local problems.
Therefore, the objectives of the grant are the following:

2.Raise the awareness of stories and examples of local innovation in order to sensibilize the operators of the Italian development sector, often focused on traditional intervention systems.

3.Focus on the potential role of the ICTs that are emerging in the development sector as tools able of support solutions to poverty thanks to higher access and diffusion chances.

4.Identify, value and award organisation that can already prove their social impact thanks to the application of digital technologies already available.

1.Promote and encourage partnerships between actors from the South and – the North of the world. We believe that the collaboration between organisations based in different geographical contexts represents an added value that can entail better results.
