NAWAMITA- THE SOCIETY FOR UNDERPRIVILEGED UPLIFTMENT56/1, PICNIC GARDEN ROAD, PICNIC GARDEN Activities:
The aim or objective of establishment of the organization to say in a broad sense is to minimize the sufferings of the people by harnessing appropriate ways and means. However some specific objectives/purpose of establishment of the organization are enumerated below (a)To facilitate socio-economic-political-cultural and environmental up-gradation of the poor and the marginalized section of the population residing in urban and rural areas emphasizing the downtrodden Communities (b)To empower needy and underprivileged people of the rural areas and particularly those of urban slum dwellers in respect of Health, Education (Both Formal as well as non formal), Livelihood generation and on gender issues. (c)To propagate and act for augmenting skill of the people especially the youths for facilitating employment/ self employment (d)To promote women development and women empowerment (e)To facilitate education for the children and the adults besides working towards empowerment of the adolescents (f)To augment environmental education including promotion of Hygiene and Sanitation among all sections of population Mission: NAWAMITA is a value based Non Governmental Developmental Organization committed to establish rights for the women and men in the urban areas & villages. Within the next ten years it shall work in the areas spread over in different parts of the state of West Bengal especially of the Howrah & Hooghly district which are mostly inhabited by scheduled caste / Scheduled tribes and other backward classes of population and other weaker section of the society by organizing the people for united effort to achieve food and livelihood security by harnessing local and natural resources, developing eco friendly cottage and village industries assuring GENDER EQUITY in all its activities
