Activities:

This organisation was started under the NGO Keshavsmruti Pratishthan Jalgaon & Ratanlal. C. Bafna Foundation Trust on 3rd March 1999, as a joint co-operation Trust named Mangilalji Bafna Eye Bank &Hospital. The only objective of this trust was collection of cornea (eye) without any charges from the deceased person upon will. Various measures including awareness and motivation for eye donation is spread amongst the people to promote eye donation after death. Along with this we are also using the donated corneas for the surgeries of corneal blind persons i.e. Keratoplasty (It means implant of the cornea of dead person on the eye of blind person to bring back vision in his/her eye). The entire cost of donation to surgery of the patient is borne by the Eye Bank *Till date we have collected 370 numbers of corneas from the area of Jalgaon district and also successfully attempted Keratoplasty of 188 numbers of patients. The excess corneas received by our Eye bank are forwarded for further use to Research Organisations viz. Medical College and district hospitals. (Every Corneal blind person gets Keratoplasty operation done from this organisation totally free of cost. The current cost of per Keratoplasty to this organisation for each eye is around Rs.36000/-)
