Grams is a non-profit voluntary organization registered IN 1995 under Karnataka State Societies
Registration Act and also registered under Income tax exemption act 12A and 80G working for the
disadvantaged social groups like dalits, tribes, women, working children and other deprived classes.
The Society was established as a result of unprecedented efforts and visionary thoughts of the most
concerned individuals who had the affinity with unprivileged and backward rural and urban society
irrespective of caste, creed and religion based discrimination, exploitation, atrocities, etc.
GRAMS is active in villages of its operation in four districts of Raichur, Gulbaurga, Bagalkot and
Yadagiri of Karnataka state particularly among the SC and SC community with a focus on women and
children. GRAMS is primarily working on Environment (Watershed Management, Biodiversity,
sustainable agriculture, solid waste management, water, sanitation and hygiene, dry land agriculture,
etc) health, education, livelihoods. GRAMS was the Mother NGO for implementing a health project
supported by the Government of Karnataka. It has its own office and branches at field districts where
the projects are implementing. GRAMS has adequate infrastructure (professional, vehicles, etc) to
implement large size projects and the collective expertise is in community mobilization, capacity
building and trainings, technical backstopping especially on environmental issues, advocacy and
lobbying, networking and partnership. GRAMS primarily working with Government of Karnataka
mainly on environmental projects (Watershed Management, Solid Waste Management, etc)
