5. ORIGIN OF SHARON: Sharon was formed on 2nd of October 2002; the day was well known to everybody i.e. Mahatma Gandhi’s Birth Anniversary Day. It was initiated with like minded people those who are willing to work for the deserving community people need of outreach services living with us in Puducherry. Women, Children, Adolescent girls, Aged persons, Widows, Differently able persons, people living with HIV/AIDS and deserving people living below poverty. These are the people really in need of helping hands to care them in all their Agony situations. To eradicate illiteracy, and violence against women our organization formed to serve. 6. COMPOSITION OF THE ORGANISATION: Sharon organization has an Advisory Committee consisting of 10 members and they meet once in six months to plan present Activities, evaluate past activities to find kind support for the further management. The executive committee meets once in three months to evaluate the present activities. 7. OUR VISION: To contribute towards Sustainable Human Development through initiating and executing development activities that result in substantial improvement in the Quality of Life (QOL) of the disadvantaged 8. MISSION: To create Rehabilitation Family Homes for the holistic development of orphaned and abandoned children and destitute elders. To empower meritorious girls and differently able persons from weaker sections of the society by providing them financial assistance, learning aids and supporting them to pursue their educational goals, thereby turning them into dignified, confident and positive contributors to society. To reach out to more non +ve children of HIV afflicted parents to ensure a positive future by providing them financial support so they get proper care at home, including basic education and nutritious food. Further rehabilitation of these children is also looked into, if the situation demands. To enable people from different backgrounds to volunteer and share their experiences with the underprivileged people and work towards improving their conditions and widening their horizons, thereby in turn, getting benefitted themselves. To work consistently with the state machinery and decision makers towards reformation of policies that favors the underprivileged, keeping their best interests in mind. To reach the needy in time and to assist them in all the way to bring happiness and sustainable economic support to manage in their rest of life. PRESENT ACTIVITIES OF THE ORGANISAION: a. Home for aged (woman only) b. Day care centre for slum children c. Distributing free note books children’s. For widows d. Assisting equipments to physically challenged persons. e. Formation of SHG for women and differently able persons. f. Women empowerment programmes. g. Skill training for adolescent girls. h. Environmental awareness creation. i. Formation of children sangams. j. Urban Counseling centre for women. Care and support for PLHA (People Living with HIV / AIDS k. HIV/AIDS awareness creation for auto drivers. SHG for women l. Educational sponsorship programme for school going children. m. Blood donation club / awareness programme. n. Providing cloths and foods to aged persons.
