Chanan Development Association (CDA) is a youth led organization established in 2004, with mission to empower young people’s meaningful participation in decision/ policy making, youth adult partnership and advocacy for the creation of a healthy, just and peaceful society. The key program areas of CDA include; - Youth Participation and Leadership - Health, SRHR & HIV/AIDS Prevention Education - Young Women Empowerment - Human Rights, Democracy & Citizenship - Intercultural dialogue, Interfaith harmony & Peace Key methodologies of CDA include; - Interactive & Street Theater - Media Engagement - Peer Education - Advocacy Campaigns & Conferences The Key strategies of CDA include; Capacity Building: CDA is organizing youth and women in groups, building their capacities as “Change Agent” for bringing the sustainable change in their communities through advocacy campaigns, peer education, interactive theater, digital and social media, cultural festivals, conferences and trainings. Advocacy: CDA is advocating for active and meaningful youth participation in decision/policy making process at all levels i.e. domestic, community and policy level by organizing interactive dialogues & meetings with parliamentarians, religious leaders and community elders. Media & Communication: CDA is not only building liaison with media agencies but also enhancing the capacity of young people as “Community Journalists” to highlight the violations of human rights and youth issues in their areas by writing blogs, articles etc and make documentaries. Theatre & Arts: CDA is using Theater & Arts since its inception, staged more than 1000 theatre performances reached more than 200,000 people in communities and also trained 15 youth groups who working independly in their respective areas to raise awareness on multiple issues. Networking: CDA believes in collective efforts for change, therefore working with local and national organizations and youth networks to protect and promote youth and rights and providing them a platform for networking and resource sharing.
