CHILARAI KRISHI BIKASH SAMITY is an NGO working in Dhubri district of Assam with the following aims and objectives. 

This Society was established in 1997 by a few educated youths of Dhubri district of Assam with a view to undertake awareness, training, Socio-economic development of all sections of people of this economically backward region of Assam. This Society was registered under the Societies Registration Act,XXI of 1860.(Regd. No.RS/DBR/250/A/106 of 1997-98) on 1998.

This Society started its activities from 1997 and after registration this Organization take up its broad based objectives.” The journey of a thousand miles begins with one step”,the persons behind this Society believes this winning spirit and the all members of Chilarai Krishi Bikash Samity dedicatedly working for the overall development of the underprivileged peoples of this locality and region.

ACTIVITIES:The activities of this Society includes Training,Organizing Exhibitions of rural products produced by rural artisans and SHG members, self-employment generation, publication of different booklets on SHG management/income generating activities, establishment of medicinal plants garden ,awareness generation etc. with some extent own efforts and with the help from State Institute of Rural Development (SIRD) and District Rural Development Agency(DRDA),Dhubri.

AWARENESS: Already organized various group meetings and massive campaigns are also organized to aware the rural people about the various rural development programmes, especially SGSY.

EXHIBITIONS: Organized different Exhibitions of the products produced by the rural artisans & SHG members i.e. Jute craft, Bamboo craft, Mushroom, Terracotta etc at Dhubri, Bagribari and other places several times.

SELF-HELP-GROUP PROMOTION: This Society has fixed a target to develop atleast one SHG in each village in Dhubri district from January 2001 to uplift overall socio-economic conditions of rural poor of this district within few years and special emphasis is given to form women SHGs. Among these SHGs more than 60% SHGs are of rural women who now started to thrift a small amount of money and few among them deposited the thrift in Bank Accounts and started in-lending among group members. DRDA,Dhubri already released Revolving Fund to 336 numbers of SHGs and Credit cum Subsidy to 147 SHGs are released during 2003-04 and 2004-05. .

ESTABLISHED HATCHERY TO PRODUCE QUALITY CHICKS & DUCKLINGS :In association with District Rural Development Agency,Dhubri started the Dhubri Hatchery Project to meet up the daily requirement of eggs of Dhubri District i.e average 24,000 to 30,000 eggs and meat. PUBLICATION:Published Booklets on SHG management (2 numbers), Mushroom cultivation (1 No.) & charra-chameli Duck Rearing (2 Nos) and a few number of leaflets on mushroom cultivation/consumption was published for advertising.

MEDICINAL PLANTS GARDEN: According to one of the major objective this society has established one such type of garden at Manipur village under Bagribari P.S. in the year 1997. In this garden rare herbal plants are collected from different sources and preserved here with great care. Already approx 100 species are preserved in this garden.
