Activities:

The strategy for implementation of the project is as follows: It is proposed to plant trees of multiple varieties on either side of National Highways, Ring Road and municipal roads, Bye-pass roads, Panchayat roads and to maintain them. These trees will be planted with the permission of the concerned authorities and in the spots earmarked by them. So the saplings will be planted only with the permission of Government departments concerned. The water for the trees planted on either side of the roads will be by recycled water from human wastes and water in unused wells. The Government has also initiated steps to provide underground drainage in each and every village or town. Therefore water shortage is not anticipated. Trees will also be planted in the Panchayat union lands and in buildings. It is also proposed to give fruit trees of their choice to the villagers and if they desire, the same will be planted in their houses and in their lands also. The multiple variety of trees planted on either side of the roads will be maintained by the Trust whereas the trees planted in the village Panchayat lands, poramboke lands and buildings and in schools and colleges will be maintained by concerned. The Trust will provide necessary guidance and assistance wherever required and also keep a strict watch on the maintenance of the trees planted in the house and farmers lands. Fencing will be done around each sapling planted by the Trust either by using cement and hollow bricks or by bio-fencing depending on the situation of the place. The hollow bricks or bricks will be either purchased or would be obtained by public donors. Therefore there is a very little chance of the saplings planted to be eaten away by cattle or sheep. To provide consistent water supply to the saplings, we intend to bury a pot filled with water near each sapling planted and then only fencing will be done and a small hole will be put at the bottom of the pot. The oozing water from the pot will be sucked by the roots of the saplings and once the pot is filled up, it will last for three days. Therefore in summer and dry seasons also, the planted saplings will survive. Since the pot is buried neck deep in the sand, there is no possibility of any damage to the pots. Thus the saplings are made sustainable till they grow into trees. It is also proposed to conduct awareness camps once in a month to give awareness to the target people on various issues concerning environment such as water preservation, increase of underground water resources by deepening of Wells and ponds in the villages, pollution control methods and by proper drainage systems. Before planting anywhere, the soil of that area will be tested by reputed soil laboratories and then only the trees recommended by the soil laboratories will be planted in that area. In the Panchayat areas, tamarind trees will be planted which is also an additional income source for the concerned Panchayats. The fruit trees will yield additional income to the village womenfolk and therefore their socio-economic standards will improve and they need not borrow money from moneylenders at exorbitant rate of interest. Their poverty is alleviated. The children get good education and he villagers live a healthy life free from all diseases. Their mortality rate also increases gradually. The manpower for planting of trees will be hired from the concerned villages and thus the villagers will also get employment. It is proposed to give jobs to 10 people out of which 7 will be women who are well accustomed with agricultural jobs. Almost 90% of the project will constitute women and men will be employed if need be. We have been regularly raising plants in our Nursery and we think that the saplings will be sufficient. If the same are insufficient, then we will request you for financial assistance or if the same is not granted, we would adjust our costs and will raise saplings in our own nursery and plant the saplings. We assure you however, this project will be implemented by us without any default or any bad remark on us and be rest assured your funds will be utilized as detailed in the budget and you will definitely find that the project has been implemented successfully and we guarantee you 100% success in the implementation of this project.
