The House Sparrow Passer domesticus indicus, are now struggling for their existence in our state with its lively social behavior and relatively tame nature. Their decline has been noted alarmingly since the last three decades. Environs safe organization was started with the aim of facilitating the life and livelihood of the struggling creature like House Saprrow.
In different part of our country, house sparrow is alarmingly reduced in their number. Yet still some urban species are noting their tame nature. Environs Safe Organization undertook a project in Baranagar-kamarhati Water Project area and Kalyani Municipal area for supporting this species. The Watch Sparrow helps us to know more about what happens to these birds and also to ensure their conservation before it’s too late.
We are beginning to understand how habitat features relate to the abundance of Sparrows and diversity in urban landscapes in our country. We have made valuable observations on the yearly breeding data of house sparrows.
