CERC was founded in 1978. First of its kind for Consumer Rights. CERC is a Non Profit & Non Government Organization The campus covers a 10,000-sq. metre plot with a 3311-sq. metre built-up area. It comprises Complaints Handling Section (Grahak Suvidha Kendra) Legal Department Laboratory - CERC is the only Consumer Rights Organization in Asia after Japan – to have its own Testing Laboratories for Four categories, viz. Food, Chemicals, Pharmaceutical and Electrical with proud NABL accreditation. Education and Research Department Library & Computer Section Environment Information Cell, Administrative Department, and Accounts Department. The organization is managed by a Board of Trustees. It has a staff strength of 55, mostly qualified professionals. CERC is dedicated to the protection and promotion of Consumer interests through Active use of Research, Media Law Advocacy and Information dissemination CERC is recognized as a Research Institute by the Government of India Consumer Organization by the Government of Gujarat One of the approved Non Government Organizations by The United Nations CERC’s Goals are to Ensure total Consumer safety against unsafe products and services through Education, Research, Awareness campaign and dissemination of the findings of the comparative testing of consumer products and product information.
