SUNEHERA AAJ WELFARE SOCIETY Profile Sunehera Aaj Welfare Society is a registered State level NGO under the Indian Societies Registration Act XXI of 1860. It is neither profit making nor political in nature. Sunehera Aaj Welfare Society is a developmental organization of national repute, facilitating community development initiatives since 2008.Our strategy is to empower the vulnerable sections of the society by building their capacities through education, health and skill–based development. We are working for the cause of human development focusing on the less privileged sections of the society in the rural & urban areas of the country. The spheres of our work are governed by issues related to Health, Education, Livelihood and Environment. VISION Let us together dream of a country where poor are not just merely reduced to statistics but where there are no poor at all. Let there be a day when small children are taken to a poverty museum like science museum, where they shiver at the plight of the way people used to live in the last millennium. Let this dream take the form of a revolution and as long as our dreams keep outweighing our memories, India would remain a young and dynamic nation on its path to global equality. And for this, let the wait not be for eternity. Let us together achieve this in the next 25 years. MISSION We aim at doing everything possible in order to achieve the great Indian dream of making India an educated and healthy nation, free of poverty and its inhuman indignities. Everything that we do is focused on turning our beliefs into a tangible reality. We have a very comprehensive education programme as per the developmental age of children and socio-economic milieu under which they exist. The philosophy of our organization is based on the belief that each child deserves an equal opportunity for total development. The triad of the project includes- parents, children and the community. The various educational initiatives undertaken by the organization are: • Early Childhood Development (ECD) Programme The programme aims to spend the formative years of children lives in learning basic skills that are required throughout the life. The essence of early child education is to make learning through play and experiences, rather than putting undue emphasis on formal and rather mundane method of learning. The children are engaged in the process of learning through music, drama, puppets, stories and songs. Appropriate toys for this age group and attractive teaching-aid help them to “play and learn”.This programme aims to provide the less privileged children a pre-school exposure & opportunity to equip the child with motivation and interest for further formal schooling. The aim of this programme is the overall development of the child and also to simultaneously generate interest for education among parent/s and the larger society. Apart from the educational aspects project also have components like growth monitoring, immunization, health, nutrition services and development among the children. The children in all the Centres are given play equipment, school stationary, uniforms, supplementary nutrition and regular health check-ups. Early Childhood Development Programme Education • Computer Education Programme In this programme, we open centers in villages etc. where computer education is not easy available. We have a certified 6 months course in which the students can gain basic computer education which could be helpful for their future. In addition to the school programme we are also using the computers for adult and vocational education and community services. Computer Education Programme Health • HIV/AIDSAwareness Camp Observing the need of HIV/AIDS intervention especially for the high risk groups including truckers, sex workers, MSM and youth we started HIV/AIDS in 2009. Volunteers creating awareness on HIV/AIDS in Environment Livelihood Initiatives A majority of the poor people especially women have insecure livelihoods. SAWS Self Help groups are created so that these rural women are incorporated into the developmental process by undertaking an economic activity suited to their skills and resources. Empower erring and promoting women leadership in villages and urban slums through seminars, trainings, rallies, legal aid and small business loans is one of our main priorities. For economic self-reliance, members of women self help groups are encouraged to promote savings and credit projects which they themselves are able to administer and maintain. Through regular leadership training and monthly meetings, women are encouraged to develop an ability to analyze their situations, develop skills, and plan for the future. Group participants improve the financial status of their households by developing linkages with financial institutions and accessing microcredit. Besides mobilizing social groups to interact with government authorities the programme also aims at addressing social issues in health and education.
