There is an actor, artist, dancer, singer, musician, dramatist, painter in every rural place. But what has made them to be unseen? What has made them to forget what are they good at? What has made them just dream but illiterate to make it true? When ‘Papillon Foundation’ attempted to get these questions answered, we could realize that it is the economic and social status of their families which has stopped them from being what they are ought to. The artistic talents of rural kids are invaded may be due to; The tremendous pressure by parents to give importance towards academics.
Discouragement by families due to financial status. Non awareness among kids, teachers (Schools) and their parents about the career in various fields of art. The non availability and accessibility to art education. Non guarantee of the long term guidance on art education. Non availability of professional institutions unlike any other urban city (Bangalore & Mysore) The research, analysis and deep understanding of the problem have influenced Papillon Foundation to design exclusive programs that focus on promoting art education in Rural Karnataka.
1. Project AAKRUTI (Shaping Creativity) 2. Project SRUJANA (Skill Development Centers) 3. Project UJJVALA (Hope of New Life) Project AAKRUTI (Shaping Creativity)
The project Aakruti is a weekend camping programme with an intention to hunt for the students who are not only skilled and interested to learn our discourses but also with a strong mind to pursue their passion as profession.
Project SRUJANA (Skill Development Centres) The project Srujana aims at establishing skill development centres where the Papillon Kids (students selected for scholarship) will pursue their regular classes. The education will be free of cost for the selected students.
Project UJJVALA (Hope of New Life) The project Ujjvala commits to bring change in the lives of children who are in the streets or the victims of child labour. This project provides the four basic necessities of life of a kid; education, shelter, food & clothing. Papillon Foundation believes that rural talents are not less than anyone. The effort lies in identifying and nurturing the talents while another biggest responsibility lies in educating the children, parents and schools that even the non – academic discourses are capable enough to provide the children a decent profession.
Papillon Foundation has emerged with a strong mind to ensure that the rural children are shown a path of keeping their passion alive and making it a profession; be it music, dance, art or theatre. An idea of Papillon Foundation was conceived by just one heart that has seen the urge to pursue a passion as career in hundreds of little eyes. Now to make it happen, all needed is more hands to make team big and strong, a funding support to make it work and the beneficiaries to make this project a success.
