help uplift the socio-economic conditions of the rural poor and to enable them lead a good, healthy, wealthy and happy life through planting of medicinal, aromatic, ornamental and fruit bearing plants/trees, spices and other economically beneficial plants, herbs, shrubs, vines etc. And, to support, promote and take initiatives in eco-tourism and other related and environmental friendly and ecologically balance projects to give the people a sustainable and profitable alternatives to the prevalent destructive practices of Shifting cultivation, popularly known as “Slash and Burn Farming” amongst the hill peoples of North East India and to free them from the economic bondage and miserable daily subsistence of living from hand to mouth. Creative use of bamboos (which are found in great abundance in the region) and other locally available resources without endangering the fragile ecological balance and to cultivate new and more beneficial bamboo species of other regions which are suitable to the region. In pursuance of the above objectives, the “Plant and Live Society” shall also take up projects which are consistent and ancillary to the aims and objects of the “Society” like Information Technology, Solar and other Renewable Energy, Wasteland Development, and generate creative employment opportunities for women and contribute to their well-being etc.
