Gayatri Memorial Foundation is a voluntary not for profit, non-governmental development organization. In 2011, a few colleagues who had spent a decade or more at various organizations felt the need to form a new group, to work under a new identity, in order to allow themselves space and independence to try innovative ways to work for the rural & urban poor. GMF was instigated by a group of young professionals in the year 2011 but has come far since then within a short span. The Founders of GMF believes and have strong faith in the conviction that people with acquaintance resources and empathy for the deprived and weaker sections must work with backward sections at various levels to build their capacity for empowering them overcome poverty. GMF believes that the path towards conquering economic poverty is through enhancing the livelihood capabilities of the poor and giving them access to sustainable income earning opportunities. In the process, the poor must be enabled to break free from their past, develop an alternative vision of their future and set achievable goals. They must be equipped with the technical, organizational, negotiating, and networking skills that will facilitate the fulfillment of their goals. Our aim is to stimulate and support these poor women and men to dream of a better future and stimulate their sense of agency as they endeavor to enhance incomes, improve access to services or claim rights and entitlements. The aim of the organization is to make a contribution in creating awareness about importance of education, environment, and healthcare to poor and weaker section of society.
OBJECTIVE Our focus is on reaching out to marginalized populations infected and affected by HIV. We also aim to sensitize the community to the prevalence of HIV, as well as highlight issues related to Sexuality and Sexual Health.
VISION We envision a better India with basic health, education and empowerment to every citizen.
