VGIF Grant Criteria
VGIF Grant Criteria : VGIF supports organizations that are governed and directed by women; organizations in developing countries, including the emerging democracies in Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union, that address issues such as: * Economic empowerment * Community development * Health and nutritional support * Literacy and leadership training Educational seminars and workshops * Promoting education in the sciences for girls * Women's human rights VGIF does NOT support: * Individual scholarships and tuition * Political organizations * Religious groups unless the proposed project contributes to the general good of the community * The construction of permanent buildings or the purchase of land * Salaries for board members and permanent staff. However, honoraria for external resource people/trainers may be considered by VGIF. Most VGIF grants are for one year. Successful grantees may be invited to submit a proposal for a three-year grant. June 1 – July 31, 2014
Letters of Intent accepted bewteen June 1, 2014 and July 31, 2014 Aug. 15, 2014
Approved LOIs invited to apply Oct. 15, 2014
Applications are due and review process begins April 2015
Board votes and selects top projects May 2015
