training programmes undertaken in SIRD and 3 ETCs (Bhubaneswar, Bhawanipatna and
Keonjhar) of the State. Apart from these functions it conducts and assist in organising Off
Campus programmes. It has also undertaken various research programmes like Action
Research Project work in the district of Ganjam in collaboration with NIRD, Hyderabad. The
findings of the Research, Case studies and training undertaken by SIRD is furnished to
Panchayati Raj Department as feedback to strengthen the execution of various plans and
programmes. It also develop background materials for skill upgradation of the developmental
functionaries working in the areas of Rural Development. Further, SIRD takes up peripatetiatic
training programme of elected representatives of PRIs in various district Headquarters of the
State. In addition to above, SIRD has provided its consultancy services to ISRO, Ahmedabad
and ORSAC, Bhubaneswar in executing the TDCC Net-work (GRAMSAT) in the State.
Similarly, it has given its expertise to UNICEF, VHAI, CARE and also Panchayati Raj & other
line Departments namely Watershed Mission, Mission Shakti etc. Govt. of Orissa in
introducing new poverty alleviation programmes in the shape of capacity building of the
functionaries of the State.
