Christian Rights Safety Net Foundation Work Done Report Period: 2007 - 2010 Christian Rights Safety Net foundation was started with the focus of empowering poorest of poor by providing them with much needed various skill development programmes and over all personality development. The initial period of focus was on youth from these underprivileged communities. The Focus of the work was Four districts of Andhra Pradesh Namely Hyderabad, Medak, Khamma and Warangal. The following activities have been taken up so far….. I. The Year 2007 - 2008: 1. Educational Career Guidance: The initial programme of took the need of children’s educational needs as priority. In the month April 2007, CRSNF sent volunteers in the surrounding area to bring to their notice the education needs of the children who are from poor families. Financial support towards School Fees: The CRSNF provided Master Shashendar studying in 7th class with a financial support of Rs.3,363/- for his school fees. Shashender family was living in very poor condition and for the lack school fees, the bright boy was not attending the school. When news about the boy reached the CRSNF, it immediately responded in paving way for the right to education of the child. Presently Shashender is continuing his studies in 10th class. Providing Books to College Going students: Ms. Lalitha and Ms. Haseena belonging to Trimulgherry village, where not studying properly for lack of proper text books and note books. Their parents belong to poor family and live daily wage labour in the city. The family was finding it difficult provde books to their children as they were burdend with taking care of house hold expenses and house rent. The volunteers of CRSNF brought the issue to the notice of the management. The management immediately responded with concern and provided them with college books worth Rs.7,650/- to both these girls to study without any hindrances. Now both of them have finished the intermediate course and are studying their graduate courses. Another 5 college going girls and boys were provided with college books worth Rs. 30,790/- to pursue their education. Providing Bus fees: Two school children who were studying in Alwal, and they were finding it difficult to go to school for lack bus fare. The volunteers brought this situation to the notice of the management, which responded immediately with amount of Rs.3,387/- through that academic year for both these children. Both boys families work as daily wage labourers and with their meager earnings they were unable to support their childrens’ bus fees. 2. Spiritual Advancement Programme: The member of the CRSNF especially who were serving the village taking forward the message of Christ. A special pastor’s conference programme was organized to understand Christian spirituality while serving the poor who are living very poor condition and are struggling for the livelihoods needs. About 200 pastors from Medak, Khammam, Hyderabad and Warangal participated in the conference. The conference was held in the central office at Hyderabad. The conference was lively and all the pastors were brining in their experience of serving the poor with humility. The conference also thrown up the immediate need of their congregation members. After the conference the pastors were given with Bibles, Song Books, Story Books, Bible Bags, Sudays school material and craft material worth Rs.26,450/-. The programme took place on Wednesday 6th June 2007 at Hyderabad. The President Mr. M. Yogesh Shetty inaugurated the conference with prayer. Ms. B. Prabhavathi the Secretary concluded the conference and gave away the books and materials. 3. Tailoring Training and Employment: CRSNF members came across destitute and single poor women from SC, ST and BC communities who were struggling for a meaningful livelihood options. When they were asked what they would like to do in their lives. They expressed that if they were given hands on training on Tailoring, they can be at home and start their earning. This resulted in CRSNF immediately hiring 8 tailoring machines and immediately appointed a Teacher. A three month course was designed and the same was offered to these women. The course was given free of cost to these women. About 20 women, came forward immediately and made use of this programme and got trained in Tailoring and after successful completion of their training; they are tied up the Garment making factories for employment. On an average the successful candidates are earning Rs.150/- per day by working 6 hours. 4. Support to Old Age Home: During the month of August 2007, the volunteers of CRSNF brought to the notice of management, the dire condition of Shanti Old Age Home, the old people who are staying there were struggling without proper material. Immediately responding to their need, the home was provided with Tables and Chairs, Beds, fans, Cloths, Blankets, Buckets, cooking utensils worth Rs. 68,848/- . On 5th August a 2007 a small function was organized to spend time with the old people by the members CRSNF, and dinner was provided to all the old people living in that home on that day. 5. Computer Education to the poor in the City of Hyderabad : The computer literacy education to the poor was started in Hyderabad central office located in Trimulgherry area. The centre was inaugurated by Ms.Uppala Sharada, Treasurer and member of State All India Congress Committee on 2st September 2007. The computer education started with about 4 computers with about 20 students from poor localities of Hyderabad, with one computer teacher giving the training. the training content consisted of knowledge of Basic Computer education, MS office package, Tally, Internet browsing etc. After the training period the successful candidates are awarded certificates and we negotiate with companies for their successful employment. The computer training period consisted of 3 months. In the year 2007, we could complete one batch of consisting of 20 boys and girls. 6. Medical Camp: With the support received from individual and like minded organizations and with the support of govt., CRSNF provided free medical check up and medicine facility through an Ambulance. Covering the Tribal are in Badrachalam agency area. Through this campaign we have reached out 25,000 thousand ST families in the villages Rajapet Colony, Kothuru, Anjipaka, Dummagudam, , in Dummagudem mandal, Edara, Vijayapuram colony, suravaru kotha colony in Venakatpuram Mandal, Rajanagar Colony, Adarsh Nagar, Korrajula gutta , Srinagar Colony, Purushothapatnam, Seetharamaraju Colony, Ashok Nagar Colony, Lambadi Colony, Gandhi Nagar, MCA Colony, Rajiv Nagar Colony, Veketeswara Colony, Sundaraiah Nagar Colony, Rikshwa Colony, AJR Colony, ASR colony in Badhrachalam Mandal, Aprat from this we have also covered the villages in the mandals of Chinturu, Kunuru, VR Puram. A five member Doctors team along with 2 Nursing staff and taking the help of local RMP Doctors visited the colonies and village where tribal population and poor are concentrated. Every day the team would go in an Ambulance (109) with the all the medical equipment and medicines check the people and give the necessary medical guidance to the people. So far we have covered 25 thousand families in these villages. The local elected political leaders, govt. officials and other like minded organizations participated in this campaign and gave their continued support. II. The Year 2008 - 2009: The Year 2008 has given an immense strength to the organization. The activities carried out, the reach of people gave lot of satisfaction to the members of the organization. With success and the good will gained CRSNF continued the following activities. 1. AIDS Awareness Programme : The construction workers living in the area of Kothaguda near the Hitech city of Hyderabad, most of these workers are migrated from different villages of Andhra Pradesh. They fall under high risk zone in getting infected with HIV infection. Seeing this during the month of February 2008, a awareness camp was organized in these locality. Eminent Doctors were invited to share with the community on the various ways of prevention mechanism, care mechanism and the provision of government facilities that are available through NRHM programme that are available which provide care with confidence right from detection of the infection to giving care to the victims of infection. About 300 construction workers participated in this awareness meeting. Pamphlets were distributed in among these workers giving information about the awareness. The pamphlets consisted the information about how the virous gets infected, the various ways and detecting centers available, the preventive measures like of safe sex, use of condoms, taking confidence of the family in talking about the infection, the need of community care and protection to the infected person, the need of nutritional care etc., All the people attended were given medicine for their small health related problem after being checked by the Doctors. The programme was a huge success, the workers expressed their happiness that such kind information was given to them. some of them utilized the opportunity to make use of the doctors presence to seek about their personal health issues. Finally the programme concluded with Lunch. 2. Spiritual Advancement: The spiritual Advancement conference was organized to the member of the CRSNF. This year the conference focused on the Rights violation that is taking across India against Christians. The conference discussed on the various issues that are situated around it and how upkeep the faith of the congregation in not getting intimidated by the incidents, but continue to pray for the Peace and Communal Harmony. About 200 pastors from Medak, Khammam, Hyderabad and Warangal participated in the conference. The conference was held in the central office at Hyderabad. The conference was lively and all the pastors were brining in their experience of serving the poor with humility. After the conference the pastors were given with Bibles, Story Books, song books, Sunday school material and craft material worth Rs.27,500/-. The programme took place on Wednesday 4th June 2008 at Hyderabad. It was decided that next year the conference should take place on the local Church areas. 3. Medical Camp: CRSNF continued the medical camp provision to the general public through an Ambulance . Through the campaign we have reached out 25,000 thousand families in the villages A five member Doctors team along with 2 Nursing staff and taking the help of local RMP Doctors visited the colonies and village where tribal population and poor are concentrated. Every day the team would go in an Ambulance (109) with the all the medical equipment and medicines check the people and give the necessary medical guidance to the people. So far we have covered 25 thousand families in these villages. The local elected political leaders, govt. officials and other like minded organizations participated in this campaign and gave their continued support. 4. Environmental Development Programme: The need of Environmental development, the health and sanitation condition in govt. school became another interesting them that was added by the member of CRSNF, The global warming signals, the need to plat trees for healthy environment became the one of the concerns. CRSNF rising to the need, took up tree plantation in govt. school location in Medak district. About 2000 saplings were planted across the district by its members. The children of the schools, along with teachers and the community members participated in the programme. It was appreciated by every one and every one owned up the process and they said that they will continue to protect the plants by taking care of them. As they were going about it, the issue of not having proper bathroom facility for girl children in one of the school came to the notice of its members. The members immediately responded to the situation and provided a bathroom facility in the school. As well as constructed a community bathroom facility for the poor in one of the slums of Hyderabad. 5. Women, Child Welfare Programme : The concern for children’s education and taking care of old and widow’s continued to drive CRSNF members to take care of few of them. 5 children both boys and girls who were studying 10th standard were provided with books and uniform, bags and school fee worth Rs. 31,030/-. Sarees’s worth Rs.10, 860/- were provided to 20 old and widows who were living in very poor condition, in Khammam district. It was a moment of surprise and joy for these beneficiaries to receive these gifts of love. Especially the families of children who were supported were overjoyed to and felt happy that their children’s educational needs were taking care of. Beneficiaries list. III. The year 2009 - 2010: The Year 2009 has given lot of strength and confidence to the organization. The activities carried out, the reach of people gave lot of satisfaction to the members of the organization. With success and the good will gained CRSNF continued the following activities in the year 2010. 1. Support to Old Age Home: During the month of April 2009, supported the Karuna Nilayam Old Age Home, in Old Alwal Secubdrabad. The home was provided with Furniture, Beds, fans, Cloths, Blankets, worth Rs. 45,300/- . It was wonderful see that happiness in the faces of the old people living in the Old Age Home about the gifts that were being provided for their welfare. Serving the old and needy gave sense of empathy to the CRSNF members and the need continue to gather support for people who have worked immensely in their lives. The condition of old people from the villages and poor families continue to in the thought of the CFSNF. The govt. provision of pension is able to give a solace to these women, but something more needs to be done for the villages. Similarly Sharadha old age home in Mehedipatnam was provided with furniture, cloths, fans, beds, buckets, blankets worth Rs. 43650/- . On 8th August 2009, a feast was given to people living in the old age home. 2. Medical Camp: Public Health is one of major focus that CRSNF took up seriously right from the year 2007. Organizing in unique way to the remote villages, with an ambulance and doctors and Nursing team with modern equipment and needed sample medicines is giving confidence to the people to come out check out their health status. Apart from the govt. facility of 104 and 108, the services provided through 109 (CRSNF) is giving an added value to the public health system. This time the camp was organized in Warangal district interior villages…... Through this campaign about 15,000 people were touched upon. The various issues of public health systems like Sanitation, flush toilet facilities, plantation of trees, and the need to take care of health status of especially women, pregnant women is being discussed with the communities. The Ambulance carried a five member Doctors team along with 2 Nursing staff and taking the help of local RMP Doctors visited the colonies in the villages and also the Thanda’s were touched.. The camp was taken place for two days.. Every day the team would go in an Ambulance (109) with the all the medical equipment and medicines check the people and give the necessary medical guidance to the people. The local elected political leaders, govt. officials and other like minded organizations participated in this campaign and gave their continued support. 3. AIDS Awareness Programme : Medak is one of the district where people living in poor conditions working as daily wage labourers. Most of these workers are migrate to cities like Hyderabad, Bangalore and Bombay in search of work and livelihood. Both male and female members of the communities who migrate suddenly come back to village with illness and some times in turns out to be HIV infection. Seeing this condition of High Risk in getting infected with HIV infection. Seeing this during the month of June 2009, a awareness camp was organized in, Kohir Mandal of Medak district. Eminent Doctors from Hyderabad were invited to share with the community on the various ways of prevention mechanism, care mechanism and the provision of government facilities that are available through NRHM programme that are available which provide care with confidence right from detection of the infection to giving care to the victims of infection. Pamphlets were distributed in these villages prior to the Camp. On the day of the camp about 250 people turned out to the public meeting organized. All the people attended were given medicine for their small health related problem after being checked by the Doctors. The programme was a huge success, the villagers expressed their happiness that such kind information was given to them. Some of them utilized the opportunity to make use of the doctors presence to seek about their personal health issues. Finally the programme concluded with Lunch. One of the highlight of the programme was, the villagers took a decision to spread the awareness about HIV infection and the safe methods where every they migrate for work. Also see that they take an Oath from the person who is migrating from the village that they will keep up their health. 4. Spiritual Advancement: Spiritual advancement of Christian pastors in the troubled times and especially during attack on pastors is something that is driving the spiritual advancement conferences have focused. The village preachers are participating in lively manner in dealing with needs and congregations spiritual needs. The spiritual Advancement conference was organized to the member of the CRSNF. This year the conference focused on the spreading the awareness about Peace & Harmony of different cultures. Discussion were also took place on how to engage the small congregation in meaningful way. The healing prayer needs of different people and the spiritual growth of the villagers was one the discussion points. After the conference the pastors were given with Bibles, Story Books, song books, Sunday school material and craft material worth Rs.27,500/-. The programme took place on 28th July 2009 at Hyderabad. It was decided that next year the conference should take place on the local Church areas. 5. Providing Books to College Going students: School going children and college going children belonging poor families in Gatkesar were provided with school books and college books of worth Rs.30,790/-. The families were much relieved when they saw books being provided to their children. The Boys and girls (pleas add names and class and school) were overjoyed by having books. Their confidence was boosted and they promised that they will make use of the books and achieve their goals of their lives. Providing Bus fees: Three school children (Gayatri (9th), Swakeerth (7th), Ushnara Begam (10th), school) who were studying in Modern Mission High School Medak dist, and they were finding it difficult to go to school for lack bus fare. The volunteers brought this situation to the notice of the management, which responded immediately with amount of Rs.3, 787/- through that academic year for both these children. Both boys’ families work as daily wage laborers and with their meager earnings they were unable to support their children’s bus fees. 7. Environmental Development Programme: Heath, Sanitation facilities and environmental protection continues to capture the core aim of the organization. The alarming level with which the global warming taking place, the natural calamities that distributed Andhra Pradesh with floods during October 2009 and Drought in some of the districts prior to that. At the same the news about depleted condition of sanitation facilities in school especially in rural areas is something the CRSNF doing about one by one every year. This time programme was carried out in Khammam district in the areas of Badhrachalam. The school was selected and bathroom was constructed in the school and similarly in Venkatapuram village another community bathroom was constructed. Dustbins were provided to few schools. Plantation of trees was one of the major activities that has being done every year. This year the about 15,000/- saplings were planted in the villages of Cherla (Badhrachelam) Reguvalli (Dumugudem mandal) People participated very collectively in taking up the activity. The people were given awareness about raising greenery for protection of environment. The President, Secretary and the team members of CRSNF were collective in these efforts of carrying out the programme very meticulously and successfully. The time and efforts the members from these district played their role was tremendous. The support that received for all these programme was a strong point in carrying out these programmes very successfully. Seeing people smiles, joy is giving lot of courage and confidence to the CRSNF team from strength to strength.
