Activities: HIV AIDS/SRH
(1) INTRODUCTION North East Helping an NGO came into existence in the year 2008, and we got Registered on 31/07/2008, bearing the Registration No RS/KAM/240/A-14/688, our Corporate office is located at Khojuabil in Udalguri dist,post office at Kopati and the corrospondance address at Paltan Bazar, K.B.Bannerji Road,. We are a Social Organisation Specifically into the activities of creating the awareness against the ill effects of different kinds. Psycho Active Drugs that are prevalent in our society. We therefore need to educate the. Communities particularly among the young generation where this nuisance is creating both Psychological as well as physiological imbalance in the modern society (Urban), as well as the Rural areas. l We intend to penetrate the remotest areas where the environment, the awareness,the educational standard is poor among the people living in the N.E. region, we therefore like to start our activities with Free Medical Camp, Meetings with the Local Governing Bodies,Road Shows & Work-Shops to create healthy congenial ambient, which we have been doing for The past few years in Assam, we have ventured outside the state of Assam and started work at grass root level in Auranachal Pradesh and Tripura. In Tripura we have opened a state head office at Agartala and a branch office at Padyabil in (khowai) and a committee have been formed to run smoothly the activities at the said state .We have already conducted two activities one in Khowai( leaflets distribution on Psyco Active Drugs at different public places and explain them how to abstrain from the said Nercotic Drugs, distribution of drinking water as the program was organised during the Durga Puga festival) and the other at Padyabil where a work shop was organised on the evil effects of Psyco Active Drugs, Harmful effects of Tobaccos. Therefore Sir, with this frame of mind we look forward for your kind support in this field provided your helping hands and blessings are there with us. The Members associated with us are from various fields includes Doctors, Engineers, Phermacuitacals, Insurance, Lawyers, Entrepreneurs, so on and so forth. (3) Some of the Activities carried by North .East.Helping for last 4years. 2008-09 1) Free coaching for students IX & Xth standard:-After discussing with the Senior members of the villages at Kopati, Darrang Dist, we North East Helping, decided to provide support to the student community by providing free coaching for IXth & Xth standard at Ballabh Bhai Pattel High Secondary School for three consecutive months, where free study materials were also distributed among them .This programme was organized on 6/10/2008. 2) On 30th of October 2008, the serial blast rocks the state of Assam, in which many lost their lives and family members, we on behalf of North East Helping pray to all terrorist groups to shun arms and come to the main stream of social life, we therefore paid our eternal respect to the departed soul and so in the consequent years we will be doing the same. We pray to all, that this should not happen anymore. 3) An awareness Camp on HIV/ ill effects of Drugs was conducted at Niz Govardhan M.E.School at Chandrapur( 1/12/08) where in different people from all walks of life participated which was conducted by Dr N.K.Deka. 4)Relief Camp during communal Riots:- During the communal riots at Khoguwabil P.o Kopati Distrt Udalguri (BTAD)North East Helping, has organized the relief camps where free Educational Supplements were distributed among the Riots effected and economically backward students of the region, the programme was organized on 24/01/2009 and around 600 individuals participated, which includes the village head, members of the villages and also the students who were mostly benifitted from the Relief Camps. (4) 2009-10 5) On 24/05/09 NEH conducted an Awareness Campaign on Anti Drugs at Diphu Railway Colony in Karbi Anglong Dist. 6) During the last Ambubachi Mela2009(22/06/09—25/06/09),we conducted a free Medical Camps at the Shrines Premises, where free supply of water were distributed among the devotees, we also arranged a free counseling camp on anti Drugs. 7) On 03/08/09 An Seminar on Anti Drugs in tie up with National District Tobacco Control Cell was organized at the auditorium of Arya Vidyapeeth College. 8) Roads Shows on Anti Drugs:-We the members of North East Helping, organized a Road Show on Anti Drugs from 03/08/2009 to 30/08/2009 at different places in Guwahati to create an awareness among the masses specially the young generation, leaflets were distributed in different places during the event. 9)Free Medical Camp was organized at Khoguwabil, Udalguri Dist for 3 days, where health checkup for the children was given preference along with the other members of the villages, also free medicines were distributed among them 2010-11 10) During the World Tobacco Day on 31/05/10 Leaflets on bad effects of Anti Drugs was distributed in entire G.M.C areas. 11) On 15th August2010, we the NORTH EAST HELPING NGO have organized a Flag hosting ceremony and also felicitate Mrs Aruna Mukherji, residing at Guwahati renouned Social Worker actively involved with various social activities for last 50 years. Mrs Mukharji is of 94 years old, who is still active and can walk for 15-16 kms. In the rural areas for teaching purpose of embroidery, stitching, cutting,& fine art. amongst the rural area ladies and poor students. Since 55 years of her age, she takes only 3 to 4 cups of liquor tea & a few biscuits for the hold day as her food or diet. Now she is of 94 years. (5) 12) On 27th of August 2010 we the North East Helping, conducted a seminar on Anti Drugs in association with N.S.S (National Service Scheme) of B.Baruah College unit at B.Baruah College premises. The programme was conducted by Mr Shaltgram Ganage who was specially invited as the Chief Guest, other dignitaries attended the seminar were Principal of B.Baruah college Dr. S. Baishya, Mr Manabendra Sharma in charge N.S.S. and other faculty members. Around 200 Students participated in the Seminar, which had an open interactive session . 13) On 10th of September 2010,(Auspicious Birth Day of Shankar Dev ) North East Helping conducted an Awareness Campaign on ‘AIDS’, Psyco Active Drugs and its preventive measure and its side effect were discussed. The programme was Conducted by Miss Soma Modak (executive member of NEH), presided by Mr. Dhiraj Kar(Medicine Specialist), Dr. Utpal Bora of Guwahati Medical College, who was specially invited to deliver the side effects and also the preventive measures on Psyco Active Drugs & also Aids, which is highly prevalent among the individuals in the N.E.Region. The members (executives) present in the meeting were Mr Indrajit Debroy (President NEH), Mr.Goutam Banik (Secretary NEH).The programme was organized at Beltola Charali Hanuman Tower( Truck Syndicate) . 14) In the year 2010 in between Nov- Dec we the members of North East helping conducted survey in North salmara (Bongaigoan), where we found ample circulation of Bhutanese Currencies in the market there by fluctuating the Indian economy, also wide uses of alcohol and Drugs abundantly available and are used every where, with these burning problem we the members of NEH in tie up with the students, faculty and NSS members of Abahyapuri College submitted a memorandam to the SDO, conducted a press meet at Circuit Guest House and organised an Awareness Program at the premises of the said college 15) On 14th of Feb 2011 we the members of NEH conducted an awareness programme on HIV/AIDS and Psyco Active Drugs at Khiderpukhuri Kaibartapara L.P. school,Rampur with students, teachers,parents,and local governing bodies..Dr Ganesh Deka from Rampur Public Health Centre took active part and described and gave a detailed picture of AIDS, how it is transmitted and the preventive measuresand also shared his knowledge on Drugs, an interactive session was conducted where different questions were discussed.Mr Indrajit Db Roy the President of NEH distributed the study materials among the students. Vote of thanks was given by Miss Soma Modok( Cordinator). (6) 16) On 14th of June 2011 NEH in tie up with the Drama division of Guwahati under the Ministry of Information and Broadcast, Govt of India organised an Awareness program on Psyco Active Drugs at the premises of Meghdoot Cenema Hall , renouned artists like Sri L.N.Borthakur ,SmtiPrativa Choudhury , Sri Niren Saikia,Sri Prban Rabha were outstanding in transforming the massage and intentions of the organitation to the viewers.Miss Soma Modok (coordinator) addressed the gathering while Mr Dhiraj Kar (Chief Cordinator) discussed about the dangerous effects of Psyco Active Drugs . 17) In 2011i n the month of October during the Durga Puja festivel we the members of North East Helping of Tripura Unit decided to organize an Awareness Program on Psyco Active Drugs at Khowai in West Tripura.Accordingly members from the Corporate Office in Guwahati Assam went o Tripura and conducted an Awareness Program at Lalchora on the effects of Psyco Active Drugs on 3rd of October.Dr Rana Barman of Khowai Health Center took active part and explained in detailed the evil effects of Drugs in the societies .Mr Binoy Deb Barma presided the program. On 28th of October at Padyabil West Tripura the Tripura Unit of NEH with the members of the Corporate office in Guwahati organised an Awareness Program on Drugs at the premises of ---, the program was conducted by Mr Samir Bonik(Secretary) of Tripura Unit, Dr Rana Barman participated in the program. 18) On 20th of Dec 2011 North East Helping in tie up with Rural Upliftment Society(NGO) of Haflong, South Assam conducted one day awareness program and interactive session at Cultural Hall Institute. OUR FUTURE ENDEVOUR Here we would like to mention that along with the above stated activities, also have visited many other places in the interior of Assam to have a firsthand view of the pragmatic scenario of ill health, unhygienic condition, poor infrastructure of medical facilities of the people living below the poverty line. While visiting these places, we would also like to bring in focus of the poor condition of roads and in some places pathetic situation in some places like Kalain, Badarpur, North Salmara, etc. (7) # We also have some upcoming Projects in our hands like constructing a 10(ten) bedded Charitable Hospital, Rehabilitation Centre for the Drugs eddicted, Creating Hygienic Awareness among the economically backward people in AURANACHAL PRADESH , MEGHALAYA & TRIPURA. MEGHALAYA we have already submitted our proposal to the Father Principal of DON BOSCO and discussed our upcoming projects with him. We have also met Deputy Commissioners in Meghalaya (JOWAI, TURA, ETC), proposals have also been forwarded to them. We also visited the Chair Person of IMPULSE NGO and discuss the situation at ground level and gather many important information on Drugs and its movement through the porous international border. We have completed our field survey in Tripura, of which areas like MONU & SHAMANO ,MBB COLLEGE, PAIDYABILL, HAJAMARA, KHOWAI, has been taken in hand for proposed work activities.. We have met the S.D.O. of the respective areas and proposal have been sent to them .Here we would like to mention that the Liaison Officer of Tripura residing at Guwahati gave his valuable time and shared our activities plan with all the Govt Depts in Tripura, which helped us to proceed and forward our activities plan with the same. We have opened a State wise head office of Tripura at Agartala and a branch at Padyabil (Khowai), managing committee is being formed for the smooth functioning of the works in the state of Tripura. Every year Centre declared Govt Scheme, one such for the state of Tripura under the Ministry of Tribal Welfare proposed as ( constructing of ten bedded hospital), we received the adv in local print media on which we submitted the proposal along with the project report to the D.M.office and also to the Director of Tribal Welfare Board. We have completed our survey in Auranachal Pradesh the areas like CHANGLANG, TEZU, ROEING, LOHIT, BORDUMSHA, NAMSAI, and have sent proposal to Joint Director Health, Health Ministry, Secretariat. In NAGALAND & MIZORAM formal introductory letter along with our proposal has been sent to the respt Liaison Officer for processing and forwarding the (8) We the members of ‘North East Helping’NGO pay our condolences to the Music Legend Late Dr Bhupen Hazarika and also to the author and humanist Late Dr. Mamoni Raisom Goswami. We have met the S.D.O. of the respective areas and proposal have been sent to them .Here we would like to mention that the Liaison Officer of Tripura residing at Guwahati gave his valuable time and shared our activities plan with all the Govt Depts in Tripura, which helped us to proceed and forward our activities plan with the same. We have opened a State wise head office of Tripura at Agartala and a branch at Padyabil (Khowai), managing committee is being formed for the smooth functioning of the works in the state of Tripura. Every year Centre declared Govt Scheme, one such for the state of Tripura under the Ministry of Tribal Welfare proposed as ( constructing of ten bedded hospital), we received the adv in local print media on which we submitted the proposal along with the project report to the D.M.office and also to the Director of Tribal Welfare Board. We have completed our survey in Auranachal Pradesh the areas like CHANGLANG, TEZU, ROEING, LOHIT, BORDUMSHA, NAMSAI, and have sent proposal to Joint Director Health, Health Ministry, Secretariat. In NAGALAND & MIZORAM formal introductory letter along with our proposal has been sent to the respt Liaison Officer for processing and forwarding the (8) We the members of ‘North East Helping’NGO pay our condolences to the Music Legend Late Dr Bhupen Hazarika and also to the author and humanist Late Dr. Mamoni Raisom Goswami. Here to mention that we have done few works related in the field of creating awareness against Narcotic Drugs, Health Camps and other health related programmes in different places in and around N.E.Region, which has already been mentioned above but because of the non availability of funds many of our works are left pending which includes field survey at micro level in different places, so on and so forth. In the Interest of the future generation and for the development of health of the society we have taken up various plans for which a good fund is required, In this respect if any organisation or any worthy person comes forward to support this organisation they can donate School Stationeries, Clothes, Dress Materials, or Monetary Support(you can contact Mr Manish Das) that will be highly appreciated. .
