Poverty Eradication and Community Empowerment (PEACE-Ghana) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization that aims at improving living conditions in deprived and underserved communities in Ghana using participatory grassroots approaches to identify community needs and threats and to build on local resources, knowledge and expertise to address these gaps, in collaboration with stakeholders. In doing this, we aim to build the capacities of the affected communities to give them greater say in matters that affect their living conditions and to take ownership of the development process. Some of the areas we do include environmental protection, forest management, livelihood improvement, water and sanitation, child development, agriculture, research, local governance, and behavioural change communication strategies. Currently we operate in the Kumasi Metropolis, Wassa Amenfi Central and Ejura-Sekyedumasi Districts in the Western and Ashanti Regions, respectively, an areas that are environmentally threatened, economically deprived, socially underserved and poverty endemic. The vision of PEACE-Ghana is the creation of vibrant and protected environments in which women, children and men engage harmoniously and are able to realize their aspirations. Our mission is to work in poor, underserved and fragile communities, working hand in hand with community members and stakeholders in the areas of livelihood development, governance, behaviour change, environment protection and social services interventions.
