THE VISION To organize, educate and empower rural poor to promote development as a liberating force aimed at justice, economic growth and self-reliance.

THE MISSION To establish a just society in which no one remains hungry, unemployed, illiterate and exploited. OUR CORE VALUES Participatory development approach. Mutual sharing of ideas and information. Faith on knowledge and capacity of the marginalized.

WORKING STRATEGY To empower the powerless, ensure the grass root people’s participation and facilitate their access to local resources. The strategy is such that people should be actively involved in program planning and implementation.

OBJECTIVES Development of vulnerable people in defined time periods; To provide quality health services in remote and difficult areas; Reaching education & Skill Training to far-flung and remote area; Building sustainable livelihood opportunities; Women empowerment and self-sustainability; To cater gender and human rights issues and services to disadvantaged groups. To improve the quality of life of the rural poor women and their families through increased access to health, nutrition, education, services and productive assets. To enhance the capacity of rural poor women in undertaking activities, contributing towards actualization of the above said objectives through collectively owned & managed institution building. To provide supportive role & functions in Govt. run development programmes. This includes providing training in need assessment, orientation in development perspectives, training to develop financial and management skills and evolving systems to supervise and monitor the programme on a regular basis. To build strategic alliances with Govt. agencies for directly implementing the Govt. programmes or to leverage resources from other donor agencies to supplement ongoing Govt. programmes by additional interventions needed either to enrich the programme or to plug gaps in the programme. G. Achievements & Future Plans BMKK has moved into the 18 years of its involvement in the development sector. Every year marks a forward step for BMKK in making a sincere contribution for an empowered and developed society. The year 2010-2011 has been of expansion, intensification and implementation of our different programs with newer techniques and realistic approaches. Programs like vocational training, handicraft promotion, SHG promotion, NFE and adult literacy centers, water and sanitation program, awareness generation etc. have sharpened their focus and widened their reach to the target populations. More importantly, the impacts of these programs are positive in reaching to the poor and needy section of the society and general community as a whole. At the same time, we have also intensified advocacy activities under the banner of Lok Samiti, Bihar with wider reach and good impact. By this time our team capacity and experience also helped us in taking larger responsibilities for the poor people at large. We expanded skill up-gradation training for the poor women and girls and rural artisans as well as providing them a platform through organizing design and technical development workshops to promote their products to reach to the masses. In the meantime implementation of other programs like SHG promotion, literacy to adult women, water and sanitation program and awareness generation on different issues were also emphasized with larger community participation and support. H. Approach for Employment Linkages & Sustainability of Livelihoods Interventions BMMK believes in a sustainable livelihoods approach, which is holistic in the sense that, we not only concentrate on the training part, but also the handholding, marketing & employment linkages for the underserved sections of the society. Our approach has led to a sustainable & substantial income generation among the poor & illiterate artisans & women. Some of our trained workers are earning up to Rs. 7000 to Rs.9000 per month, as wages or setting up of their own business units. After training, we not only place them through direct employment, but also support them in self-employment through bank linkage & entrepreneurship support. Our trained social workers not only support them in training programmes, but also provide handholding support in setting up of their business and marketing brand. BMKK has its exclusively trained Marketing Team of 7 persons, who collects the handicraft items & other products of our SHGs & trained members, and put them on sale in various Trade fairs & Melas all over India. It leads not only in getting fair price of the products, but also creating a brand value of the rural products. Apart from the employment generation & income enhancement, BMKK also bring the underprivileged & poor members & beneficiaries, under various social security schemes with linkages with government supported programmes. We have covered thousands of rural poor under the RGSBY schemes & JBY schemes in our proposed 5 districts. Apart from this, BMKK’s technical support in training, in areas like Finance, SHGs, and Livelihoods is being taken by many agencies like NABARD, World Vision. Bihar Mahila Samkhya Society, DRDA. & Dist. Administration, Nawada. We have long experiences in training, with lot of trained resource persons available with us. Our training programmes are being appreciated in all the 6 districts, where we are working in Bihar Future Plan In coming years, BMKK would like to keep strengthening its activities in a pro poor way and would like to see that poor and needy section of the society would be empowered in a right direction. I take this opportunity to express my gratitude to the donors and support agencies that trusted us and always equipped us with required resources and capacity to help deliver various development activities in time.
