Call for Proposals on Inclusive Development and Social Protection

WOTRO Science for Global Development, has launched a call for research roposals on Social Protection as part of the programme Research for Inclusive development in Sub-Saharan Africa (RIDSSA). The call focuses on joint research including knowledge sharing activities on the cost-effectiveness of social protection programmes in Benin, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Mozambique, Ruanda or ganda. The call has been developed in close collaboration with the Knowledge platform for Development Policies of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands Consortia consisting of at least two research organisations from across the globe, including at least one from an LMIC, can apply for funding for joint research and knowledge sharing projects on the cost-effectiveness of social protection programmes in one of seven target countries: Benin, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Mozambique, Ruanda or Uganda. Proposals should focus on comparative, country-case studies and on the medium and long term impact on household or community level of regular social protection programmes. Purpose :The call aims at enhancing the insight in the cost-effectiveness of social protection interventions in achieving inclusive growth in specified LMICs, compared to other social policies that aim to achieve the same objective. Specific objectives are: To contribute to new evidence-based knowledge on where, how and under which conditions social protection programmes are more effective in achieving intermediate and long term growth objectives compared to alternative social policies; To contribute to insights among policy makers in Africa and the Netherlands on how inclusive growth objectives can be integrated in the design, implementation and evaluation of social protection interventions: projects must lead to informed advice and policy prescriptions for practitioners.
Proposals should focus on social protection programmes in one of the following countries: Benin, Ethiopia, Ghana, Kenya, Mozambique, Ruanda or Uganda.
