message that was put on orkut at the above link is as follows:

Help an Indian mother bring her child back from US

Srividya Balasubramanian from Chennai, India was married to Subramaniam Iyer in Feb 2004 and were living in US. They had a child named Lakshmi who is now 45 months old. Subramaniam used to torture Srividya too much because of which Srividya decided to return to India with her child. But the husband objected to take the child with her and according to US law,if one parent objects, the other can't take the child out of US.So she returned alone.
On Jan 24 2009, the husband passed away due to excess alcohol consumption and the child was handed to Methodist Children's home socieity in Pontiac, Michigan. Now it is demanded that Srividya has to file her child custody to a Custody Court in US. Srividya is competent enough to raise her child in India but can't bear expenses to go to US and bear the legal expenses. She needs INR 75000 to travel from Chennai to USA to attend the court trial, INR 50000 to stay for a week at USA, INR 125000 for Legal cost, attorney fees and court fee & INR 125000 as return fare for the mother and child from US to India.
So please donate as much as you can to the NGO New Life which will help the mother get her child and return to India. Lets help a mother of India to bring back her child home!!  Please click here for making the donation: http://www.giveindia.org/give/pledgepage/Child
