The institute is recognized as the center for doctoral research by various Universities including Mysore University and Mangalore University in Karnataka, Osmania University in Andhra Pradesh, Shivaji University in Maharashtra and Utkal University in Oirssa. Unlike some other research institutes and University departments, the centre allows a scholar to work on any topic in social science, not necessarily in economics. Fellowship For Doctoral Student
CMDR has instituted a scheme of research scholarships for researchers working either at the initial stage or in the advanced stage of their work. The ICSSR has allotted few doctoral fellowships to the Centre under salary protected and general fellowship schemes. As per ICSSR norms, the fellowship will be offered for a duration of two years and can be extended for one more year in special case. Refresher Course
In 1998, CMDR organized Refresher Course, sponsored by the University Grants Commission (UGC), New Delhi, for college and university teachers, especially those working in an under developed region; to update their knowledge, make them comfortable with new research findings, assist them to brush up old economic literature on specific topics and above all make them techno savvy by developing their acquaintance with advanced software packages.
