4th International Disaster and Risk Conference IDRC Davos 2012

 

 

Call for Abstracts & Sessions

You are invited to submit an abstract for an

    oral presentation,
    poster presentation,
    session or
    workshop

on one of the conference topics. Additionally, you are also invited to suggest a pre- or post conference event.
Abstract Submission

Please submit your abstract (max. 300 words) describing the goal, content and findings of your presentation, workshop or session via our online conference management tool:

Review criteria

The IDRC Davos 2012 Scientific and Technical Committee will decide on the acceptance of your presentation, session or workshop.

All submissions will be selected according to the following criteria:

        Relevance for conference topics
        Scientific quality and originality of the subject
        Generation of new ideas or concepts

Oral presentations

Oral contributions will be part of thematic sessions at IDRC Davos 2012. Sessions will take place in parallel with a duration of 90minutes. Each parallel session will contain 3 to 4 speakers and opportunities for in depth discussions.

Due to the limited amount of time slots available for talks, contributions submitted as an oral presentation may be accepted as a poster. If your contribution was accepted for an oral presentation, you will be invited to submit an extended paper of max. 3 pages for the electronic conference proceedings.
Poster presentations

Posters will be presented during special poster sessions. Authors will be asked to be available for discussion during the poster sessions.

The poster will be on display to all conference participants before and after the poster sessions take place.
Sessions

IDRC Davos 2012 offers the opportunity to host and organize a 90 minute session on one of the conference topics. The organizer of the session is responsible for the content, the moderation and the speakers of the session.

If you would like to apply for organizing and hosting a Session (duration set to 90min), please submit your session description (maximum 800 words) including:
- Background
- Objectives
- Aims & Outcomes
Workshops

IDRC Davos 2012 calls for workshops which will be implemented within the parallel session time slots of the conference agenda. The format for the 90 minute workshop is open.

If you would like to apply for organizing and hosting a Workshop (duration set to 90min), please submit your workshop description (maximum 800 words) including:
- Background
- Objectives
- Aims & Outcomes
Pre- or post conference events

IDRC Davos 2012 gathers around 1000 participants working in Disaster and Risk Management. In order to benefit from the expertise and the variety of people present in Davos, pre- and post conference events offer the opportunity for in depth working groups or other events without the restriction of 90 minute time slots.
