OthersAPC Focus AreasFOCUS AREAS:The focus areas of APC are as follows: COMMUNITY-BASED FAMILY PLANNING Reaching communities with critical health services, particularly family planning, is a continued interest for global leadership. Growing political acceptance of family planning approaches is bringing about changes in policies and increases in resources for service delivery. This trend has made way for community-based family planning programs, including improved access to injectable contraceptives by community health workers (CHWs) and improved partnership between private and public sectors. Advancing Partners & Communities (APC) hopes to enhance these strategies by documenting the impact of community-based family planning and promoting this approach as a standard practice in family planning and health programming. Photo: ©Arne Hoel/The World Bank COMMUNITY HEALTH SYSTEMS * A strong community-level health system will increase access to care and can improve health outcomes. * APC aims to identify the structures required for community-based services and support systems needed for community health workers. Through these activities, community-level health system may be better positioned to obtain adequate resources and create effective policies. CAPACITY BUILDING * Increasing local capacity is a central focus of APC. Through targeted assistance, APC will prepare organizations to receive USAID funds and implement successful programs. APC’s capacity-building approach includes identifying issues and challenges to determine innovative solutions, strengthening monitoring and evaluation systems, and supporting learning for community-based family planning and other health approaches. This level of capacity building will help ensure the sustainability and scalability of community-based approaches. ~ Focus Areas -APC-Capacity Building |
