Divya Deepa Trust News Update

Mahesha of Arvind group (2010 batch) passed 3rd semester BBM  in first class. Anand of Chaitanya group (2013 batch) passed 1st year PUC commerce scoring 72% marks and securing first place in Rotary West PU college.  Raji and Dhanush of Vivek group completed their 2nd PUC examinations and waiting for the results.

10th standard public examinations are going on.  Five children from Kaliyuva Mane are writing the examinations in English medium.  One is dyslexic.  His parents brought him to Kaliyuva Mane.  Though the child was in 8th standard, his academic level was that of 3rd standard.   Another child’s IQ was above average; but he developed anxiety syndrome at the school.  Doctor advised him an informal school. Other three are first generation school goers from rural underprivileged families. One does not have mother, his father has remarried.  The child was staying with his grandparents.  Another child does not have father.  His mother works in Andhra Pradesh in a school.

These children are staying at Kaliyuva Mane as resident scholars.  All children and teachers are working hard to ensure the success in the examinations.  We need your wishes too!

AWARD FOR KALIYUVA MANE :  We are  very happy to inform you that Kaliyuva Mane
received Special Jury award in “Wonderla Energy and Environment conservation award 2013” instituted by  Wonderla Amusement park.  For pictures, please click on :

VISIT OF TEXT BOOK COMMITTEE CHAIRMAN : Mr. P.N. Srinath, the chairman of text book committee (English) visited Kaliyuva Mane with  Sri Krishna Prasad, faculty member of Sadvidya High School.  While leaving, Mr. Srinath wrote in the guest register,“Had the privilege of visiting the institution founded on lofty ideals, run meticulously, and catering to particularly deprived section.  It deserves all aid and help from the Government and other agencies.  A model where the ideals spelt out in National Curriculum Framework are being realized.” Click on the link for a photo:

LEGAL HELP FOR KALIYUVA MANE :   On 23rd March 2014,   One day workshop on child rights was organized at University Senate hall by Karnataka State Legal Services Authority, District Legal Services Authority, District Administration, Department of Women and Child Welfare, Police Department, Education Department and Bar Association.

Ananth Kumar and Kavitha of Kaliyuva Mane participated in the workshop.  After the inauguration, Dr. Venkateshan, clinical psychiatrist, All India Institute of Speech and Hearing presented a paper and spoke on child education.   He also emphasized the need for alternative and child friendly inclusive education system.   Dr. Venkateshan has issued IQ and academic assessment certificates to many children of Kaliyuva Mane.  He  admired the work of Kaliyuva Mane.  Ananth Kumar briefly explained the working philosophy of Kaliyuva Mane; ‘school for CHILDREN’ rather than ‘children for SCHOOL’.  A twelve year old child with academic level of 2nd standard may be a misfit in main stream schools, but  the child finds space at Kaliyuva Mane.

He urged that the Government should recognize such child friendly innovative practices.  Because Kaliyuva Mane lacks recognition as a school from the education department, it is paying 40 times more tax, for its bus ferrying children free of cost. [than a conventional recognized school]

Ms. K.S. Mudgal, Principal District and Sessions Judge and chairperson-District Legal Services Authority, Mysore stood up and advised us to give a representation to her, so that  she could take it forward.  Later on, we met her at court.  She was equally courteous.  We are busy in preparing the document.

We are confident, that with the help of God’s Grace and your support we will be able to continue our work of empowering rural opportunity deprived children. You are always welcome to Kaliyuva Mane.

With best regards and wishes
For Divyadeepa family
