Project Description: The Read Alliance represents a bold new approach to partnership and innovation, which can bring about developmental change with rapidity and at scale. In leading the Read Alliance in partnership with USAID, CKS aims to create and lead robust social and institutional networks by bringing together corporations, non-profit organizations, think tanks, foundations, researchers, schools, teachers, and others in a new way to ensure that media, technology and innovation are used more effectively to promote early childhood reading.For this, CKS will bring together new stakeholders, involve them in a constructive and productive dialogue around how they might work together, form strategic partnerships with the stakeholders and domain experts to bring their collective resources together to overcome the challenge, provide the needed innovation platform and the most relevant domain expertise to be able to redress early childhood reading deficiencies in India at scale. The program also aims to capacity enable stakeholders to identify and solve problems creatively as well as develop, fund and scale up high-impact solutions for early reading. The READ Alliance is based on the belief that the ability to read is the most basic building block of learning. The ultimate goal of the READ Alliance is to improve the reading skills of more than 5 million children in India today, preparing them for a lifetime of reading and learning. Designation: Finanace Manager (Grant Fund Management) Location: Delhi Experience: 3-5 years Compensation : 6 – 7 Lacs/ Annum Type of association: Program Employee Qualifications and Experience • MBA finance or equivalent degree from a reputable university; • Must have some accounting or management experience. Masters degree in social sciences or development related field will be an added advantage, but not essential; • Four to five years experience in a relevant nonprofit setting are indicators of appropriate ability. • Strong experience of project and programme management; • Experience of working with donors at a management level. Key roles and responsibilities Finance and Accounting / Grant Management Systems : • Bring efficiency in Grants Management through reporting protocols for usage by the team members, quality in the reporting and timely submission of reports • Feed into the budgeting guidelines and protocols • Drive automation of grants and financial process • Manager donor side relations by reviewing critical financial reports before these are sent out, inputting into terms & conditions and timely receipt of funds. • Ensure that all the necessary reconciliations are in place for grants and partner payments happens on time • Sending timely alerts and reminders to service providers in the SPOs • Contribute towards developing of certain Standard Operating Procedures (SoP) around Grants and financial Management • Facilitate Partner Assessment for a new collaboration • Coordinating with RM & IP teams to ensure that the budgets proposals are prepared and submitted for approval after incorporating the costs under appropriate DBLs, and subsequently allocated to grants correctly. Review and update/modify the existing processes around Cost allocations to Grants in line with the approved budgets. • Process Service Contracts Financial and Accounting Systems and Processes • Understand and follow grant management processes and systems and develop new approaches and continuous innovation where needed. • Guides financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures. • Preparation of budgets, forecasts and cash flows • Maintenance of financial ledgers and accounting processes • Timely production of statutory and internal financial reports • Financial modelling and analysis • Ensuring that appropriate systems and internal controls are implemented and maintained • Monitors and confirms financial condition by conducting audits; providing information to external auditors. • Keep informed of the “best practices” in the grants management field and recommend improvements to the grants management process • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with donors and clients and representation in key programme meetings Legal • Oversee all tax and regulatory compliance issues • Liaise with external advisors on the preparation of statutory financial information • To prepare, examine, summarise, negotiation, structuring and documentation of contracts and agreements Others • Protects assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls. • Ensures operation of equipment by establishing preventive maintenance requirements and service contracts; maintaining equipment inventories; evaluating new equipment and techniques • Plan and implement office systems, layout and equipment procurement • Design filing systems • Ensure filing systems are maintained and up to date Skills and Attributes • Have a robust knowledge of the key components of the project management cycle, ideally including strategic planning and monitoring & evaluation; • Understands risks and related relevant controls primarily in the financial and procurement cycles; • Competency in cash-flow, budgeting, income and expenditure analysis and reporting; • Strong communications skills – liaising with clients, management and staff, in person, by phone or in writing; • Excellent proposal-writing and presentation skills; • Ability to organise and prioritise workload to meet deadlines and resolve conflicting demands; • Ability to work as a member of a team sharing knowledge and providing guidance and technical advice where necessary; • Well developed problem solving abilities and strong analytical skills; • Willingness to travel; • Social confidence and be able to create a strong presence with clients and the CKS team. • Knowledge of and experience in philanthropy and the nonprofit sector and application of best practices in grantmaking; • analytical capabilities; high ethical standards; attention to detail and high degree of personal organization; ability to manage a fast-paced heavy workload; ability to problem solve and exercise good judgment; ability to work omega replica independently; sense of humor and ability to work in a team approach to get things done.
