Winn Feline Foundation Seeks Applications for Research Promoting Cat Health

NOVEMBER 13, 2015
DEADLINE: DECEMBER 14, 2015

Founded in 1968, the Winn Feline Foundation works to enhance the relationship between cats and humans by fostering improvements of feline health through research and education. Since its inception, the foundation has awarded grants totaling more than $5 million for scientific studies, encouraging veterinarians and researchers to focus attention on the health needs of cats.

Grants of up to $25,000 will be awarded to studies applicable to all cats. However, the foundation also is interested in projects that address issues in individual breeds, nutrition, and behavior, as well as research related to diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of abdominal cancer (liver, pancreas, intestinal tract).

Winn only supports research for which humane treatment of animals is assured. The foundation does not fund projects requiring euthanasia or the induction of disease or injury unless the nature of the disease or condition studied offers such significant improvement in feline health and such means are justified. At the conclusion of an accepted project, every effort must be made to adopt the cats used into loving homes.

Applicants may be faculty veterinarians, postdoctoral fellows, practicing veterinarians, or veterinary students.

For complete program guidelines and application instructions, visit the Winn Feline Foundation website.
