The main projects are: 1. Counseling support to parents whose child is suffering from congenital heart diseases. In Collaboration with SACH Foundation (Apollo Hospital, Hyderabad) on providing counselling support to Parents of children suffering from congenital heart diseases. This programme has started in 2007. The Foundation identifies and trains student volunteers in counselling, who then provide counselling support to parents of children suffering from congenital heart diseases as per a pre-fixed schedule in batches. 3 batches has been involved so far covering 37 student volunteers from institutions like P.G college and Dr. Reddys Foundation for Health and Education and have served almost 100 beneficiaries till date. 2. In Collaboration with Helpage – India, New Delhi under National Small Grants Program, we had done another project called Care for the Disabled Elderly. This program involves providing assistance to the elderly disabled to improve their physical health and living condition like enhancing mobility, promoting independence and fostering self confidence by giving aids and appliances and counselling. This program was implemented in the year 2008-2009. Under this programme, 296 aids and appliances were distributed to the elderly disabled in OH, VI and HI categories. The Foundation is doing follow-up with the help of local partners periodically with the beneficiaries who were covered in the programme. 3. We have been organizing Abilities Mela for the PWD’s consecutively from past 4 years to provide employment opportunities and capacity building. Abilities Mela has been organized by LSN Foundation in partnership with other government institutions and NGOs to link up PwDs with employment opportunities, and to showcase their abilities and talents. The major budget for this event is provided by CORDAID - Business and Community Foundation. Main objectives of Abilities Mela is • Bring the employable among the Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) and the corporate organizations (both private and public sectors) together, and arrange for matching of skills and abilities with employment requirements • Provide a single window of information and opportunities for support services, training and livelihoods of Persons with Disabilities (PwDs). • Market products created by PwDs to enable better quality of life for them by providing access to markets, livelihoods and mobility. • Sensitise companies, students, CSOs and the public on disability issues and enable cooperation to promote inclusion at all levels. • Provide a common platform to NGOs and networks working on disability issues to come together to lobby for an inclusive society. 4. Another inspiring project named “Basic Entitlements to Homeless” has been taken up in 2009. This project aims to improve the quality of life of the homeless by tying up basic entitlements required by the homeless for leading a life with dignity. The other goal of the project is building Community Based Organizations of the homeless, which will continue all the project initiatives on a sustainable and long-term basis. In this project we have conducted baseline survey and profiling for almost 289 homeless persons and initiated 2 Night Shelters one for adult Male at Kachiguda having around 25 to 30 inmates regularly and the other for Single women and Families near Narayanguda which is started 1 month back and presently has 3 families in it. The Night shelters also run attached Community kitchen which provides Hot and nutritious food. Basic Needs Campaign, health camps and counseling support are other achievements of the project. 5. While doing survey of the homeless for this project, we found so many children on streets without adult care, education, proper food, etc. At the age of going to school, and leading their childhood in safe and hygienic conditions, so many children are out of schools, leading their lives in unhygienic and unsecure places and far away from accessing their basic rights. So, we started Rainbow homes for girls and boys. This Program involves Campaign for the Education, Care and Protection of the children who live and work on the streets; and education initiatives including bridge course, tuitions, leading to admission to formal schools. The program is supported by Partnership Foundation and SSA. Foundation has started 2 Rainbow Homes 1 each for Girls in Arya Vatika Govt. School near Lalapet and 1 for Boys in Mission gate, Monda Market 6. Started an Old age Home for the vulnerable and destitute old age people who do not have any support and are struggling in the last phase of their life. The old age home is located in Srirangavaram village near Medchal. The project envisages to provide a caring and lovable home for the aged destitute .This home will cater to their basic needs, health, emotional and psychological ones and enable them to lead dignified lives with a sense of security.
