Vision Communities without poverty and injustice, one in which woman, man and girl and boy enjoys the right to life with dignity. Mission To work with marginalized groups of people in order to include them in the process of development. MORE has adopted Community Based Rehabilitation (CBR) to build people’s capabilities and bring freedom from disabling barriers. Aim To include those people on the margines into the process of development. Objectives In order to achieve its mission MORE has set itself three key objectives. As the first objective it develops and sustains a Resource Centre that will foster community capabilities and bring brand visibility to organisational activities. Secondly it develops and promotes a strong and vibrant Disabled Peoples’ Organisation (DPO). The third objective is to train the Resource Centre and the DPO towards advocacy especially at the grassroots level. Apart from taking up the felt needs of the community for advocacy MORE propagates goal oriented deliverables on therepy, pedegogy and Activities of Daily Living Skills (ADLS) at the macro level. MORE has already demonstrated how these CBR deliverables empower children and persons with disabilities. Philosophy MORE has adopted Community Based Rehabilitation (CBR) to build people’s capabilities and bring freedom from disabling barriers. Persons with Disabilities (PWD) especially children with different disabilities constitute the target group of the organisation. MORE entered into partnership with Cordaid in 2008 and christned the project as Maitri CBR Movement. (Maitri means alliance or amity in Telugu). Over the past two years the project has consolidated its CBR experience and positioned itself to influence the larger system. In the next 3 years the project aims to galvanise its micro experience into a movement across the target area. Such a scale up will attract state recognition for CBR and strengthen the advocacy for appointing a CBR Worker (CBRW) in every panchayat. In order to influence the larger system and sustain the impact of its work MORE visualises to adopt a three pronged strategy. Firstly it will develop and sustain its Resource Centre that will foster community capabilities and bring brand visibility to Maitri CBR movement. This will be done by harnessing MORE’s experience by sharpening and highlighting goal oriented deliverables on therapy, pedegogy and Activities of Daily Living Skills (ADLS) that empower children and persons with disabilities. Secondly it will develop and promote Vikalangula Vedika (VV) into a strong and vibrant Disabled People’s Organisation (DPO). Thirdly it will facilitate grassroots level advocacy at Panchayat, Mandal and District level through the VV. MORE will consciously work towards role transfer from project to the VV by building the capacities of PWD leaders in managing the rights based initiatives. The three pronged strategy is expected to sustain the CBR movement and ensure a meaningful role for MORE in future.
