Aim/Objective/Mission: The SPANDANA RURAL DEVELOPMENT INSTITUTION is a voluntary, non-profit, Non Political, non sectarian Social Service Institution, based in Bangalore rural districts since 2006. SPANDANA has been undertaking various need based developmental Activities in its working area. Aiming to enable community based people’s group to become self managed and self reliant for a better and more just civil society. The thrust areas of Institution in developmental interventions are – Women, Education, Livelihood, and Empowerment & Natural Resource Management. SPANDANA VISON AND MISSON : Our long term vision is to build a society where in the resources are shared amenities are met, opportunities are opened up for all and people live in with dignity and respect, our mission is to create and provide all possible opportunities to get them empowered through awareness, education, income to be "enhanced by learning various work skills" and Right attitudes confidence. OUR CONCERN : Our primary concern is the people who have been denied of their right place opportunity and access to services due to their very impoverishment of socio, economic and political bargaining position. We believe that given the right opportunity they too can rise with status and dignity and put an end to so far live in human condition and situation. OBJECTIVES 1 To support for integrated and sustainable development of rural poor. 2 To support rural community information and development of appropriate local level institution to build and manage their own resources and developmental affairs. 3. To collaborate with govt. for poverty allegation and developmental ventures. 4. To under take development projects for the benefit of rural community. 5. To support for participative watershed development and influence regeneration and appropriate management of natural recourses in a sustainable manners. 6. To prevent soil erosion and to preserve regenerate natural vegetation to maintain the ecological balance. 7. To create awareness among people to adopt new packages of Agriculture practices. ie. Mixed cropping pattern. Multiple cropping etc. 8. To adopt & implement mechanical measures to conserve the scarcity of rain water. 9. To improve the standard of living of the farmers by generating income generation activities through financial institution linkages and imparting training on agriculture and dairying. 10. To promote skill developmental activities for women.. 11. To promote skill training for youth and spinster for their own sustainable development 12. To reduce poverty & improve livelihood’s of the people living in the area. 13 .To increase capabilities of local level institutions for sustainable development. 14. To improve skills & create alternate livelihood options for vulnerable families in the operational working area. OUR APPROCH : The key focuses of like approach of the programmes initiated and being implemented are long term self sustainable, efficient and effective with our underlined quality consciousness. WORKING AREA : KARNATAKA STATE URBAN AND RURAL AREAS Institution role in the development process is that of a catalyst, who will animate and motivate people to: Analyze their situation Identify their capabilities and potential Identify root cause problems which are detrimental to their growth and development Unite & join together to collectively discuss and solve problems and issues Make their own rational decisions which are suited to the local condition / situation & Act accordingly. For long term continuation and sustainable development programs, our institution believes in – investing in skill trainings, capacity building of human resources and developing financial and institutional linkages and networks for learning, sharing and mutual cooperation. Our institution shares the global concern for saving the planet earth, from gradual and unmitigated destruction of it’s natural resources, and has been contributing it’s mite for bringing this about, and also awakening people to the key questions of integrated & sustainable development.
