Workshop Background & Objectives :When capacity building is successful, it strengthens a non-profit's ability to fulfil its mission over time, and enhances the non-profit's ability to have a positive impact on lives and communities. NGOs concerned with development face the management of a complex and diverse range of issues. NGOs face internal management issues, for example questions of strategic planning, budgeting, staffing, and the governing structure of the organization, growth and change within the organization. NGOs also face the management of external relationships; relations with government, the private sector, other NGOs and with their target communities. All of these come to bear on the possibility of NGOs managing development. The effectiveness of NGOs as actors in development and change depends on successful engagement with both internal and external management questions and also on the successful articulation between issues of internal and external management. The Objective of this workshop is to demystify the law and empower:participants with sound working knowledge of the various dos & don't underlaw in order to stay legally and fiscally compliant and enhance credibility and accountability which is crucial for every NGO. It will also give participants a sense of key methods and sources of fund raising and more importantly how to build a 'case for support' and prepare effective grant proposals. Topics Covered 1) Differences between Trust, Society & Company 2) Duties and Obligations (Legal & Fiscal) for Board Members & Senior Staff 3) Income Tax Exemption & Tax Deductions for Donors 4) FCRA 2010 Act & Rules 2011 & implications 5) Applicability of Allied laws like Service Tax, VAT, PF etc 6) Audit 7) Good Governance practices 8) Role of Board members 9) What is Accountability and Transparency and how it can be enhanced 10) Key sources and methods of fundraising 11) Communication tips 12) Building case for support & Proposal writing Who Should Attend? The training is aimed at a varied audience including Trustees, Directors,Secretariats, Project Coordinator, Project Managers, Documentation Officers of NGOs, Societies, Trusts, SHGs and Voluntary organizations. Registration Details: Fees per delegate Rs. 500/- (including 12.36% Service Tax) To be paid through a DD/ Cheque in favor of "Confederation of Indian Industry", payable at Mumbai). (before 6th March 2013) The above registration fee includes workshop material and lunch. Participants attending the program are requested to make their own arrangements for travel & accommodation to the venue.
