You will receive an acknowledgement that your application has been received. Applications that fall within the areas of interest to the trustees and pass an agreed preliminary screening process are considered at a meeting of the full Board of Trustees twice a year - usually in June and January, Submission deadlines are 15th May and 15th December respectively. We may contact you by telephone or email to discuss your application or to arrange a visit. We aim to let applicants know whether or not their application has been successful within 2 weeks of the trustees meeting at which the application is being considered. What are the terms and conditions of a grant?
Successful applicants will be asked to sign a simple grant agreement setting out their obligations in relation to the grant. Grants must be used for the purposes outlined in the application. If the project is unable to go ahead as planned we are happy to consider variations as to how the money is to be spent, however, the money must not be used for any other purposes without our agreement. It must be returned if the project does not go ahead. Recipients of a grant will be required to provide a report on the funded project to the trustees within 3 months of receiving the grant. Criteria:All grants are made at the discretion of the trustees without discrimination on any grounds. Amongst other things, the trustees will consider the following criteria:
The ability of the applicant to demonstrate that they already provide or will provide public benefit The impact the grant will make with regard to relieving hardship, distress or sickness and/or promoting social welfare The number of people the grant will benefit and for how long How any shortfall in funding for the project will be raised The time scale for the project Relief of poverty and disability Provision of access to shelter, education, healthcare and water Exclusions
No research - academic or medical No holidays or outings No arts or entertainment activities No animal welfare No local appeals outside of the North East of England No general appeals. There will be no response to general appeal communications. The trustees reserve the right to reject any application in their absolute discretion.
Application Checklist
There is no application form. Please outline your project on no more than 4 A4 sides using the following checklist:
What is the name of your organisation and what is your UK charitable registration number if you have one? What does your organisation do? Who are you helping, how many and how? How many staff and volunteers do you have? Which statutory and voluntary organisations do you have links with, if any? How much money do you need? [eg, a contribution of �X towards a total budget of �Y]. Where will the balance of the funds required come from? What do you need the money for? When do you need the money? Have you applied to other sources? If so, give details and outcomes. Who is your key contact regarding this application and what are their contact details (including telephone, email and mailing address)? Please include or attach:
A 250 word summary of your proposal. The contact details of 2 organisations or individuals able to provide a reference on your behalf. A copy of your latest audited annual report and accounts or a copy of your most recent bank statement if you do not have accounts. You may provide a link to your accounts on the Charities Commission website if applicable. A budget for the project for which the application is made. Please do not attach any unnecessary documentation
