This call for proposal is for an organisation interested in developing itself into an advocate for and resource on police reform for a variety of stakeholders in Mumbai and Maharashtra. This will include advocacy, public education, building a constituency that focuses on bringing about better policing, building a coalition and housing a secretariat.
Applicants must:
Have prior work experience working on governance related issues in Mumbai
Have demonstrable ability to convene and network around issues of governance and have a good understanding of the legislative processes
Be willing to support the growth of a coalition focussed on policing, backstopping the coalition, and building interest and understanding on the issue among the general public.
Be committed to furthering police reforms in Mumbai, and Maharashtra beyond the period of this grant.
Be registered non-governmental organisations / trusts with FCRA permission
Be able to fulfil financial requirements and procedures required by the grantor.
Applicants are invited to submit expressions of interest which should include:
1. Previous work of the organisation, including networks, advocacy experience, convening and coalition building experience, especially in Mumbai and/or Maharashtra
2. Interest in the theme of this call for proposals, and how it fits into organisational mandate and builds on previous work
3. List of proposed activities
4. Budget
Period of the grant: 10 months starting between 20 January & 1 February, 2015
Amount: Maximum Rs. 8 lakhs
