The movement of certain categories of workers, requiring the Emigration Clearance, is regulated by the Emigration Act of 1983, implementation and adherence of which is overseen by the Protector General of Emigrants (PGE) through Protector of Emigrants (PoEs) offices located across India. To further Ministry’s efforts to make the labour migration from India safe, legal and humane, the Ministry has taken several steps including implementation of schemes for the welfare of migrants leaving abroad for work.
