Expression of Interest – NGO Partnership for HAPPY Project in Mumbai Period of Project: Aug ust 2016 to July 2019

Introduction and Background:Deepam Educational Society for Health (DESH), a non-profit, voluntary, is a pioneering organization working at Pan India level on comprehensive health programs and intervention in preventive and promotive health. The programs of DESH mainly focus on women and children, marginalized communities, adolescents in and out of school, working youth and men. Over the past two decades, DESH has conducted 2852 health action programs for youth in schools in five States. Over 130 NGOs have been trained by DESH to implement school health programs. DESH is recognized as one of the National Training Partners of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, for providing training in adolescent health programs.
Project Purpose:HAPPY – Health Action Program for Progress of Youth, a project to promote health and combat substance use/abuse among youth in schools is implemented with the funding of TATA TRUSTS in Mumbai, commencing from August 2016. As a lead NGO, DESH will implement ‘HAPPY’ by training of and networking with 6 partner NGOs in Mumbai. In turn, each of the 6 partner NGOs would work with teachers and students of classes 6 to 12 in 120 schools each, thus covering 720 schools over a three-year period.
We are currently identifying NGOs working in Mumbai who can partner with us for the implementation of HAPPY project for 3 years from 2016 to 2019.
Interested organizations to partner with DESH for HAPPY should send their Expression of Interest in the template as given below by 13th of Aug 2016.
The NGO should demonstrate the following in the application. • Experience of working in Mumbai city • Experience of working in Health sector or with youth
Key essentials: • Applicant organizations should have necessary registration in India. • Preference for Organizations empanelled with Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) • Applicant organizations should have a proven track record of development impact in the area of health, education, livelihoods, social inclusion, and gender equality.
