Oxfam GB is seeking a new Head of Scotland within the UK Campaigns, Policy and Programmes team. This is a crucial role shaping and leading a team who deliver an integrated programme and advocacy and campaigning agenda in Scotland. The team works to achieve change on domestic and global poverty, influencing the Scottish Parliament and Westminster government. You will be Oxfam’s most senior representative in Scotland, representing Oxfam corporately and managing and influencing significant external relationships.

 

Oxfam runs a significant domestic anti-poverty programme in Scotland, and you will be responsible overseeing this programme, and the delivery of a strategic national anti-poverty programme campaigning and advocacy. You will also be responsible for leading Oxfam Scotland’s role in our global campaigns on climate change and inequality, including maintaining strategic alliances and partnerships with key actors in Scotland; including civil society networks, public and private sector organisations and the media.

 

You will need proven influencing and advocacy skills, and an understanding of Scottish political and economic structures and strong media and communication skills. You will have strong understanding of international and domestic poverty issues and how these relate to a UK and Scottish context.  Ideally, you will have experience of anti-poverty programme work that links to advocacy and campaigning outcomes. You will have strong power analysis, political knowledge and understanding, and a clear ability to strategise around political opportunities for change. You will be a dynamic leader with proven experience of managing staff and planning processes and with clear strengths in team work and collaborative processes.
