Funds for NGOs Last date: 5th February 2015 Health systems research addresses health systems and policy questions that are not disease-specific but concern systems problems that have repercussions on the performance of the health system as a whole. The aims of the Health Systems Research scheme are to: Fund rigorous, high quality research that provides a step change in our understanding of the optimisation of health systems to deliver new or existing evidence-based interventions for the benefit of people in low and middle income countries. To ensure that the research that is funded has impact and closes the gap between the generation of research knowledge and its implementation at scale.
As a guiding principle we recognise that health systems are broad, and include not only formal health care delivery systems (public or private), but also include factors such as health education, community and individual action, the regulatory and legislative context and the existing and emerging social, economic and cultural circumstances. The first call under this initiative was launched in October 2013. The initiative will run for three years with one call a year, and is now open for researchers to submit proposals for call 2.
