Project selection criteria: Manos Unidas financed projects of agricultural development health , educational, and social advancement of women , with the aim to help the overall development of people in Third World countries . Also, serving populations at emergency and humanitarian aid in disasters and other circumstances so require.

For Manos Unidas, development is a process that should lead to social transformations and changes in both the North and the South, so as to achieve decent living conditions for all people . Projects grow out of the needs felt by the population of the poorest countries, and are a tool to promote the development of peoples , education, food, health care, etc.. Ultimately contribute to the eradication of poverty.

Collaboration Manos Unidas is not intended ever to military purposes, partisan or involving violence or aggression to humans or nature.

Project cycle: From the most remote parts of Africa, Latin America , Asia and Oceania arriving daily Manos Unidas applications are studied and analyzed in detail and must meet a requirement Basic : target , protagonists of the process, must also be the drivers proposals and those responsible for implementing them . The project stems from a request or desire for change, and goes through a process of knowledge and analysis of reality to change.

The process has several steps :

  • Receiving the request of the local organization of the South .
  • Study and discussion of it.
  • Development of the study record.
  • Proposed approval or rejection of the project, indicating the route of financing.
  • Final decision for approval or rejection by the Standing Committee.
If the project is approved, the initiative was developed in direct communication with the addressees and responsible , ensuring that the funds they receive from the Spanish society reach their destination. Unfortunately, the limitation of our resources enables us to support only some of the requests we receive.

Participation of target: We support projects that are the result of reflection and analysis, encouraging the participation of the beneficiary population, since l to involvement of recipients is essential for the future sustainability of the initiatives condition .

We stress the need for the local population acquire sufficient expertise to projects can run once external support has ended, because our goal is not just to solve specific needs, but to favor the processes that allow the identification of problems and search for solutions by beneficiaries . In addition, the projects require close monitoring, which means a direct contact with our partners, responsible for projects in the South.
